Caring for green surroundings
In 2022 we planted a small garden next to Yangi Sharq in Bukhara. We replaced the soil where waste used to pile up, planted 120 elm trees and installed an irrigation system. Our founder still tends and waters this garden today.
First steps towards green surroundings
Our practical steps towards creating green surroundings began in Bukhara in 2020. Having seen an announcement about volunteers gathering to plant trees, our founder joined the initiative group. The group continues its work today.
By the founder’s estimate, more than 5,000 trees were planted together with the group he took part in. This is the group’s shared result. Beyond the group’s work, he plants trees every year himself. He has also helped create several small gardens. Today our founder tends the garden next to Yangi Sharq. We looked after gardens in other areas ourselves at first; later the landscaping department of the city of Bukhara took over their care.
Today we are planning to bring this idea to life on a larger scale in the Xumo project. Preparations have also begun to restore irrigation and green surroundings around previously completed buildings.

From a waste site to a green garden
In 2022 we planted a small garden next to the Yangi Sharq residential complex on B. Naqshband Street in Bukhara. A lot of waste used to pile up here. We removed a layer of soil about one metre deep and brought in quality soil.
Here we planted 120 elm trees and installed an irrigation system. Our founder still tends this garden and keeps watering it. According to him, the trees are turning green and growing.
We have created small gardens in other areas too. While there was no system for looking after them, we took care of them ourselves. Later the landscaping department of the city of Bukhara took over their care. The garden next to Yangi Sharq, however, remains in our founder’s care.
